I'd like to see people selling tuning goodies and even an autojumble. Most of all I'd like to see someone with a mobile dyno. Not many people have access to one. Gone, but not forgotten. Deals Gap is crazy fun!!!
Established 2003 ~ For Riders By Riders
Your friend's description of the mph is quite accurate. The road is so jam-packed with turns that there is little time for building up speeds between corners. One side of the road is up the mountain the other side is down the mountain, with trees to painfully slow your decent. So there is also then the speed limiting effect of self preservation.
The first time I was at the Gap was about 15yrs. Best part, not a single other vehicle the entire time.
I have been back twice since, one more time in an Auto and only once on a bike. I had set out on a return bike trip a few years ago but was forced to restructure the trip when my friend put his bike down on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Anyone thinking of making the trip from the North East area should skip the Highways and enjoy a real nice scenic road running on top of the Appalachian Mountains. Outside of the major roadways down there, there is a lot of killer secondary roads throughout the Smokey Mountains and the adjoining Shenandoah Park.
A serious word of caution : The last few times I have been down through on those major roadways there has been an excessive Police patrol.

So there's your. Hey Spud, Certainly this could turn into something like that, however initially it's better to think of it as a gathering of people that share a similar interest.
But I would like to get some folks out there that could help people with their riding. I had another chat with Dave today. It looks like there is a Z-Car rally going on in May.

I'm not sure when, but I hope to go to Europe soon, get a bike, and do some riding around. And after that Japan. From what Dave has been telling me Deals Gap is an amazing place to go riding. You can skip the first two minutes.
